Longford Cup

Thoroughbreds race meeting, incorporating the Elders Longford Cup.  Longford comes alive with the colour and excitement of the Tasmanian Summer Racing Carnival, world class thoroughbred horse racing, fashions, glamour and entertainment.   The Longford Races are a true country meeting in Longford - the home of many horse studs and training facilities.  Held on New Year's Day, the party atmosphere at this meeting always results in a strong turnout, with well over 5,000 patrons at previous race meetings. Located only 20 minutes from the city of Launceston, this meeting is a firm favourite with the racing community and holidaymakers.  Featuring entertainment and activities throughout the day, including oncourse live music, the ever popular Fashions on the Field, free kids entertainment including pony rides and face paintings.

Blessing of the Harvest

Longford's Blessing of the Harvest Festival is a community event held the first Sunday of every March, on the Village Green.   Kicking off with a fun and colourful street parade, the event has something for everyone. Rock 'n Rodz is a celebration of the cars, music, fashions and culture of the fabulous 50s and swinging 60s. It is held at the Longford Showground on the first Sunday in October each year. All profits from the day are donated to Camp Quality. Local and interstate Rockabilly and Rock 'n Roll bands perform throughout the day in a large marquee complete with dance floor and seating. Over 200 pre 1970 vehicles from all over the state are on display. Other highlights of the day are a 50s style pinup competition, burlesque dancers, fashion parades and  fashion and tattoo competitions. There are a variety of trade stalls including lowbrow art, pinstriping and an 'old skool' barber! Rock 'n Rodz is an alcohol free, inexpensive fun day suitable for all ages (children are also catered for with jumping castles and  spray on tattoos). Longford Revival Festival

First held in March 2011, the Longford Revival Festival is an international event that takes place on 30 acres of farm land on Pateena Road (The Flying Mile) in Longford, Tasmania.

The Festival celebrates an important chapter in Tasmania’s history and a vital part of the history of Longford and its surrounding regions.  It is a celebration of the car races that took place from 1951 to 1968 in the town, but it is most importantly a celebration of the people that made it happen.

It is a festival for our times.  Memories mixed with the new vitality of Northern Tasmania.  Showcasing fine food and wine, the new industries of the north since the hey-days of Longford in the fifties and sixties.

The Longford Revival Festival promises a fun filled weekend.  Wine from the Tamar Valley, fine gourmet food, live 60s music, the greatest automotive collection even put together in this state, and memories from the golden days of one of Tasmania’s oldest, and most famous towns.

It is a chance to see history, to touch history, in a totally modern facility on the famous Flying Mile, part of the original Longford track.  One hundred magnificent machines from Australia and overseas, with performances daily.
